In the competition, students utilize a variety of public speaking skills, including characterization, pacing, eye contact, facial expression, and enunciation. Students choose a text to read to an audience and have been working since September during their lunch period. The team was chosen through try-outs in December.

The Junior Varsity Mount Pleasant Team, coached by Mrs. Erin Carabello, consisted of Eden Lederman, Jolie Hochberg, Natalie Florita, Simi Rao, and Harini Marepalli.
