Dear Upcoming MPMS Students and Families,
It’s summer reading time! Please enjoy this “kickoff” to summer reading by perusing the books suggested in the presentation created by MPMS Media Specialist and English Language Arts teachers. Many of the book
choices include a book trailer. Don’t miss them! This summer, you are asked to read two books. Please choose at least one book from the list/presentation, and your second selection is a book of your choice. During the first weeks of school, you will participate in engaging discussions and activities about one of your
selections. At Livingston Public Schools, we have made literacy a priority at all grade levels. We need your help in ensuring that “our” children continue to read throughout the summer. Through sharing your reading life and
being an example for your child, we partner together in encouraging students to develop a love of reading- our ultimate goal as a community.
Thank you for your support! We can’t wait to hear about your summer reading journey! For your viewing pleasure, please watch: Why We Should All Be Reading Aloud To Children.
Happy Summer Reading!

List for students entering 7th Grade
Dear Incoming 7th graders,
Heritage Middle School is happy to share with you an exciting list of books for this year’s summer reading assignment. We want you to find something you will love, so we are offering a diverse selection of fiction with different topics and sub-genres.
You are expected to read TWO full-length books that are appropriate for your reading level. You MUST choose at least ONE book from our list of recommended fiction. The other is a free choice (any genre, including non-fiction), which means you can choose from our list or not. In September, be prepared to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of your books. A complete list of our recommended books is available on Destiny Discover through the Heritage Media Center Website or in Classlink.
We look forward to discussing your summer reads in the fall.
Have a great break!
