Ready to Jam? MPMS Jazz Band Auditions Start October 14th!

Mount Pleasant Middle School Jazz Band Audition Information

Hello, Prospective Jazz Artists!

We will hold jazz band auditions on Wednesday, October 14th (and on Thursday, October 15th, if necessary). Each individual looking to audition for the jazz band will attend a live audition after school in the band room. Students will be required to practice and play musical excerpts, which will be posted below for each instrument. Please visit https://sites.google.com/livingston.org/mpmjazzensemble to access the music needed for tryouts.

Jazz band includes the following instruments:
- Saxophones
- Trumpets
- Trombones/Baritones
- Piano
- Drum kit
- Bass Guitar/Upright Bass
- Guitar

If a student does not play one of these instruments, please talk to Ms. Rupert about starting a second instrument. Many players decide to “double up” and learn a jazz band instrument in addition to the other one that they play in the red/blue/yellow band.

Students MUST sign up on the bulletin board outside of room 121 for an audition time!
